Set up an authenticator for Findable
If Findable asks you to set up an authenticator, use this guide to connect an app on your phone and complete the extra sign-in check. You only need one authenticator app.
Before you start
Have your computer and phone ready. This guide covers adding Findable directly to an authenticator. If you sign in through your company’s Microsoft or Google account and see your company’s security setup, follow your IT team’s instructions instead.
Watch the walkthrough
Watch the authenticator setup video (opens in a new tab)The video uses example app screens, not a recording of Findable account enrollment. Follow the setup page shown for your own account.
1. Install or open an authenticator app
Use Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator on your phone. Install it from your phone’s official app store, checking the publisher is Microsoft or Google. If you already use one of these apps, open it. There is no need to install a second app.
2. Keep Findable’s setup page open
Start signing in to Findable on your computer. When you are asked to set up an authenticator and a QR code appears, leave that page open. Use the QR code displayed for your own account, not a code from a screenshot or video.
3. Add Findable in your chosen app
Microsoft Authenticator
Tap Add account or the plus sign, then choose Other account (Google, Facebook, etc.). Allow camera access if asked, then scan the QR code on your computer. For direct Findable setup, do not choose Work or school account just because you use a work email address.
Google Authenticator
Complete the app’s welcome screens if shown. Tap the plus sign, then Scan a QR code. Allow camera access if asked and scan the QR code on your computer. You only need to follow the steps for one app.
4. Enter the code in Findable
Once the account is added, find the new Findable entry in the app. Enter its current six-digit code in Findable on your computer and follow the on-screen instructions to finish. The code changes regularly. If it changes before you finish entering it, use the newest code.
Signing in next time
When Findable asks for an authenticator code, open your chosen app and use the current code for Findable. An authenticator code comes from the app, not your email inbox. Keep the app installed.
If you get stuck
Already asked for a code, but no QR code? Check the authenticator app you previously used and look for Findable. If you cannot find the account or have lost access to the phone, contact your administrator or Findable support for help with access. Do not delete your existing authenticator entries to try to force setup again.
Code not accepted? Check that you selected the Findable entry and try its newest code. If it still fails, contact support rather than repeatedly setting up new entries.
Changed or lost your phone? Contact your administrator or Findable support if you cannot complete sign-in. They can help you through the account-access process.
Keep your setup QR code, setup key and sign-in codes private. Never share them in a screenshot or message.
